Meet Our Teachers

At Shanti Yoga in South Delta, we know that good teachers aren't just smart, friendly and all-around joyful yogis, they're great at sharing what they love.
They love yoga.
Great at breaking down a posture and translating an idea to a group in an easy-to-follow and inspiring way.
And we're thrilled to be able to bring such a wonderful group of yogis to Tsawwassen, from across Vancouver, Steveston, White Rock and yes, Boundary Bay, to teach at our South Delta studio.
Every one of our Yoga Alliance certified yoga teachers brings something unique and wonderful to class — just like every student teaches us a special lesson daily.

(Read more about our gang of yoga nerds, and check out more fun photos too, on our Facebook page - www.facebook.com/shantiyogabc - where teachers often post quotes, advice and more. It's like our little corkboard.)

*Alannah Bence is radiant. Certified by Semperviva Yoga College, Alannah brings a calming and relaxing atmosphere into her classes. "Learning how to breathe and connect more intutatively has made my life, on and off the mat, less stressful and more patient." She believes yoga is an opportunity to let go of negative attachments and keep moving forward into the future. Her intention as a teacher is to take what she has learned and experienced and share that with everyone around her. "I hope to have people leave my class well challenged and stress free!"

* Heather Cull came to yoga out of a simple need to breathe and stretch her tight hips and soon discovered what a transformative journey yoga can be.
Heather teaches flow, power and hatha classes that focus on sequencing and alignment to create a deeper connection to the inner and outer body. in Heather's classes, there will be breath, there may be sweat and there will be a lot of joy that will take her students into a fuller expression of their true selves on and off the mat.
"Yoga astutely connects us to the world and beings around us and changes the way we react."

*Marianne Mandrusiak truly believes that yoga can enrich our lives in the best ways possible!  A professional dancer for over ten years, Marianne wanted to learn more about how our bodies move, and was fascinated by the way that yoga helps us to build and maintain strength and flexibility so that we can continue to be active throughout our lives.  After completing her RYT 200 hour training and becoming a Yoga Alliance Certified instructor through the Semperviva Yoga College, she went on to further study in the areas of Vinyasa and Yin Yoga.  She is excited to continue to learn, and to share this knowledge and love of yoga with you.

* Tracy Sundbo combines 10 years of yoga practice and a compassion for sharing the art of balance she teachers yoga from the heart. She has completed 250 hours of Yoga teacher training through Langara college, 30 hours of children's Yoga training taught by Shakta Khalsa with "Radiant Child Yoga", and just recently completed her first module toward her advanced teacher training in northern India at Anand Prakash Yoga Ashram. *Anusara-inspired teacher Allison Llyoyd-Nijjar says, "In my classes you can expect to savour the physical beauty and grace of the body in motion infused with mindfulness and intention. I hope to inspire you to just feel better so that space can be made in your body and mind for deeper play and contemplation."

* Chantal O'Sullivan, believes every day is better once you take time to unroll your mat and she brings her enthusiasm and love of yoga to every class she teaches:

Yoga should be fun, she often says. So it is no surprise that she thinks Smile-asana is a very key pose and this is something to practice on and off the mat.

She is a 2011 lululemon ambassador  for Lululemon's Oakridge's store — and really loves trying out new leggings and yoga tops. (And the feedback she gets from her students.)

When she's not found sharing yoga, you'll often find her writing. As a reporter, she's covered everything from fashion to fraud. Now she's working on getting her first book (fiction!) published.

* Lisa Finlay says, "Breathe in - Breathe out - As simple as that your yoga practice has just begun. I believe that anyone can do yoga & everyone should!" As a graduate of the Semperviva Yoga teacher training 200 hr program, she is excited to be able to share my love of yoga with with my fellow yogis & to be a part of the journey along the path of peace & strength. She believes all we need in this world is love, laughter & of course yoga.

* Teacher Majessa Castonguay had the joy of growing up on a cattle ranch in the Cariboo region of B.C.; the wonder of the natural world has been part of the tapestry of her life and central to her inevitable draw to yoga. Her path brought her to Vancouver where she has had the honor of studying with some of the finest yoga instructors in Canada. Watching the visible effects yoga has on people, Majessa was mesmerized and inspired to learn this art. Springing from her own practice and sense of peace, Majessa is now teaching a variety of yoga styles in Hatha, Yin, Vinyasa, Prenatal and Restorative as well as accompanying women on their journey to motherhood as a Certified Birth Doula. Passionately central to her teaching is the sure knowledge that through breath, movement and open-heartedness the inner self is discovered.

* Andrea Klein found yoga 7 years ago and healed many of her back injuries because of yoga.  "I have also healed my mind as well.  I use the yoga practice on the mat to help me with all other areas of life that need a little more light and fun.  That healing and lightness and fun is what I want to bring into my classes.  I'm excited to see you on the mat!," she says.
